COMMUNAL AREA DURABLE FINISHES
An antimicrobial textile has a protective layer to make it resistant to microbial growth, mold, and mildew.
These fabrics are commonly used in high traffic areas and are preferred for their low maintenance and cleanability. They are available in several coated fabric options.
Leather is a long lasting, easy to maintain and inviting material. To clean this material, use a leather cleaner or gently wipe with soap and water.
Vinyl has a non-woven surface that can handle extreme wear and provide effective moisture resistance. Commonly used in healthcare and high traffic areas for its heavy-duty abrasion resistance and excellent cleanability.
Vinyls are bleach cleanable and provide a soil and stain resistance barrier which makes them long lasting.
NOTE: Always test your cleaning solution in an inconspicuous area to avoid discoloration or damage to the product.
Polyurethane fabrics are non-woven, synthetic materials that are lightweight and breathable. They provide a heavy-duty abrasion resistant surface and are resilient to most stains.
This fabric can withstand a water based or diluted bleach cleanable solution.
Silicone is an environmentally friendly alternative to vinyl and polyurethane. This material is bleach cleanable, stain resistant, has a strong fluid barrier as well as natural antimicrobial properties.
Crypton has a patented technology that inhibits the growth of microbes on the surface. It is also the only fabric that not only meets but exceeds all of the following heavy-duty requirements: stain resistance, water resistance, abrasion, tearing strength, breaking strength, seam slippage, flammability, and resistance to fungal and bacterial growth.
The fiber content of the material will determine how to clean this textile. If it is a 100% solution dyed material it is bleach cleanable. If not, it can be cleaned with soap and water.
Due to the non-porous make up of glass, these surfaces can be wiped clean of all germs and bacteria with bleach or other chemicals without damaging the integrity of the product.
Laminate is a strong alternative to wood that has a similar look with added benefits. It is considered a dependable, decorative surface material with special performance properties available including chemical, fire, wear resistance and antimicrobial options. It can be cleaned with soap and water, bleach, or disinfecting wipes.
A dependable alternative to glass, acrylic is a transparent plastic material with outstanding strength, stiffness, and optical clarity. Manufacturers are creating barriers out of this material to help protect the workplace.
It is recommended to only use an acrylic cleaner solution made for this material to prevent ghosting. It is especially important to not use any kind of abrasive solution, such as strong chemicals, ammonia, or bleach to clean this material.
Markerboards are being used as protective barriers between employees. The top two materials used for markerboards are glass and porcelain. Glass and porcelain markerboards are both non-porous materials that do not harbor germs or microbes, making it easy for cleaning and disinfecting.
Glass and porcelain are suggested for all day, heavy duty users. To preserve the clarity of the material, you should completely erase all marker ink prior to any disinfectants.
