We love cool and colorful furniture, but we always have to ask ourselves how well these products will perform in the work place. When planning projects we factor in the “cool” aspect along with creating an office environment that works to deliver employee performance, health and well-being while fostering creativity, collaboration and productivity. We’ve put this page together to highlight some of our favorite new products and design trends that are making offices more inviting, collaborative and productive. Take a look!
Seen at NeoCon 2017
This year’s key trends at NeoCon 2017: greater emphasis on health and wellness echoed abundantly in new sit/stand solutions and bigger use of natural fabric and lighting; the continual move to a more residential design aesthetic for business environments, greater amalgamation between furniture products and technology and the presence of lines with elements to support collaboration and/or privacy.
With an event the size of NeoCon, it’s impossible to cover every detail, so here’s our outline of some of the newest products to have captured our attention.
Pantone Color of the Year
What is the Pantone Color of the Year?
To answer that question, we have to first ask, what or who is Pantone? Pantone is the world’s leading authority on all things color. At the end of each year they provide color forecasting on what is going to be next year’s most popular color(s). The Pantone color of the year is a symbolic selection, a cultural snapshot based on society’s mood and attitude.
The 2018 Pantone Color of the Year is Ultra Violet 18-3838, which communicates “originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.”
Ultra Violet 18-3838
In the words of Pantone’s Executive Director, Leatrice Eiseman, “We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination. It is this kind of creative inspiration that is indigenous to PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level. From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come.”
Without ignoring its regal origins, majestic Ultra Violet evokes feelings of counterculture, leadership and ingenuity. It spurs emotions and motivates—its popularity among famed creatives Prince, David Bowie and Lady Gaga is well known.
Thoughtful and starry-eyed, Ultra Violet urges a full-on embrace of other supersaturated dark colors and rich fabrics. Consider leather, velvet and heavy-colored woods. Incorporate with blue and red to awake the supernatural and divine. Workers will find themselves drawn towards reception areas, jumpstarting thought provoking conversations. Sound absorbing acoustic panels in conference rooms invites out of the box thinking, a must as we step into a new year.

The Standing Meeting
Standing Height Conference Tables are all the rage. The average company meeting goes like this…you walk into the meeting feeling inspired- your brain buzzing with new ideas, you can’t wait to get them all out, and then you settle into your conference room chair and begin feeling too comfy and easily distracted, all the while wondering how long this meeting is going to take before you can get your ideas out on the table.
Standing meeting keeps everyone at the meeting upright and active, so they are able to think on their feet (quite literally). Research shows those standing at meeting are more collaborative, energetic, and perhaps most importantly, time-efficient, which translates to shorter meetings!!! Here are some of our favorite designs and ideas for the Standing Meeting table.
Make the Workspace Social
We love all the new designs and products that encourage collaboration, innovation, and productivity. Creating social spaces allows employees to collaborate over food and beverages, while also providing comfortable lounge seating and hang-out spaces that invite mingling. Mix in some standing height casual meeting spaces, and you have created the new social workplace.
